About Metal Energy

Kathleen got her love of handiwork from her mother who loved crafts of all kinds and was an expert knitter and needlework artist. She eagerly learned most crafts including sewing, embroidery, macramé, decoupage, lapidary, wirework and woodworking, then expanded into other media including photography, sketching, watercolours, stained glass, calligraphy, beadwork and silversmithing.

In 2003, while surfing the internet, she read about an intriguing new jewelry material that changes from clay into silver: Precious Metal Clay®. Further research lead to her take an intensive 3-day level 1 certification course in Seattle, which started a love affair with this amazing material.

A year later, while chatting with the owner of a local bead shop, her eyes were distracted by a small display of novelty stretch bracelets made out of metal and rubber rings. Captivated by the pattern, she needed to find out more. Returning to the internet once again, she found a wealth of information about patterns and sources for buying rings, as well as a strong on-line community of chainmaille artists and enthusiasts with whom to share this new passion.

She now teaches and demonstrates PMC and carries products for sale. And she creates chainmaille jewelry and items which she sells at local markets, shows, galleries and on-line.
